The Dayton Foundation Earns OANO Ethics/Accountability Excellence Standards Recertification

The Dayton Foundation has earned the Ohio Association of Nonprofit Organizations (OANO) Standards for Excellence recertification for its rigorous adherence to accountability and ethical business practices (See Stewardship).

The Foundation was among the first nonprofit organizations to be certified by OANO in 2005. The certification process included an anonymous peer review to confirm adherence to a comprehensive code of conduct that promotes accountability through self-regulation. The lengthy review focused on the Foundation’s operations, governance, human resources, financial management and fundraising practices.

“We are honored to be among a select group of Standards of Excellence certified organizations,” said Michael M. Parks, president of The Dayton Foundation. “The Foundation’s recertification shows our continued dedication and commitment to the highest standards in ethics and accountability.”

OANO is a statewide membership association of more than 600 organizations that provides leadership, education and advocacy to enhance the ability of Ohio’s nonprofit organizations to serve their communities.

The Dayton Foundation, established in 1921, is the regional community foundation that serves the multi-county Greater Dayton Region.
